Walk the Line | The LAMBCast

Johnny Cash is one of the most revered figures in popular music of the 20th Century. He was an early pioneer of rock music but is best remembered as a county music star. His life was complicated by personal demons, a long term love affair, and an idiosyncratic approach to the music industry. “Walk the Line” was a Biopic designed to showcase his talent and to reflected the demons that sometimes dominated his life. Joaquin Phoenix stars as Cash and performs the songs on stage himself. Reese Witherspoon plays June Carter, the country star and comic performer who becomes his muse and obsession before she became his wife.

Howard Casner of “Pop Art” returns to the show with some strong opinions about the performance of Phoenix. Matthew Simpson of the “Awesome Fridays Podcast” echoes those thoughts and further praises the Academy Award Winning performance of Witherspoon. Tony Cogan of “The Wickerman Podcast” just has a hard time swallowing the film, it seems he has been poisoned by “Walk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story”.

We Finish off the show with an Exit question asking about other potential Biopics. Oh, and by the way, it is “bio-pic” not “bi-opic” as it has been uttered on other episodes (but not this one).
