‘Run Terry Run’ Is Worthy of Its Heroic Subject | Exclaim!

Run Terry Run is a stirring documentary of this young man, one that will likely reduce you to tears. Told entirely through archival footage, and with narration from his team, friends and family, director Sean Menard‘s film reminds us that it was Fox’s sheer will that made him a hero. Initially, he eschewed the spotlight, and only accepted sponsors for the Marathon of Hope on the condition they not profit from it. He wanted the focus to be entirely on the cause, not on himself, even after the national spotlight turned to him.

The film isn’t simply a hagiography; it’s a full portrait. It shows the gradual transition from shy kid to confident public speaker and the stubbornness that kept him running even when his artificial leg was causing his skin to tear and bleed.
